Bullion

I really like the amount of good electronica / hip hop coming out these days. Gold Panda and Joy Orbison, have definitely worked up a lot of hype about them this year. Bonobo and Four Tet both releasing banging albums, as well as record labels, hyperdub, warp, and stones throw pushing out a lot of good artists into the limelight.

Amoungst this filter heavy, J Dilla influenced wave is Bullion, who has been blasting this shit out way before it was cool. Bullion has this sound that is hard for electronic music to achieve, a sense of freshness. It hard to put into words what it sounds like, but when you listen to Bullion you can hear it.
Hailing from Acton, London, Bullion confesses to listening to over the top gangster rap and pop band, Five, as a child. Which, I guess you can associate with his music, through the fact he has a lot of hooks and distinctly satisfying off beat drums.

A track worth taking a ganders at is, “Get Familier”, which has a pulsing synth and a drum beat that could only be described as multi dimensional. The track has a lot layers, which I like, there so much going on, you can tell Bullion puts a lot of effort into his music.

FUN FACT
Bullion isn’t just an artist, but also DJs, with some pretty killer mixes out on the internet. Which are just as interesting as his own music.

He recently released “Say Goodbye to What” single, which is some radical beat making.

Heres a mix he did for Fader.
