STOIC

Everything about “Stoic”, debut EP from James Kelly’s alias WIFE, is dark. Which is something you would expect from the writer of death metal band, Alter of Plagues.
The burial influences are far from subtle, with “Bodies” sounding like a Penguin Cafe Orchestra track taken in to the grimier parts of London. While “Shards” is a slow haunting track, with a strange RnB sound, it feels almost sinisterly sexy. The EP for the most part retains these core aspects, but switches it up with “Trials”, where it’s focus on the clubesque build, and hissing drop would not go amiss on the dance floor.
WIFE is definitely one to watch, producing material that would be expected of a EDM veteran, he certainly knows what he is doing.
