BEAT FOR

Today sees the release of Jamie xx’s Numbers debut with last year’s killer track “Far Nearer” accompanied on this 12″ with this new B-side, “Beat For”. It strikes a different mould to it’s A-side, with a sound more boldly reminiscent of early James Blake material, especially with that despairing, echoed vocal. Yet, Jamie xx has constructed something in his own sound, unmistakably his. It’s a perfect B-side, one that compliments the other track, as well as being just as compelling.
