Seeing Beat Connection live last night at Soho’s ever-great White Heat night was disconcerting as my mind tells me that two preppy-looking guys from Seattle surely can’t be making this kind of music. Despite their mismatched appearance, it was also brilliant. Effortlessly turning their chilled out summer anthems from the Surf Noir EP into pumping club jams meant that they had the collective attention, and dance moves, of the crowd. They played insta-classics like “In The Water” and “Theme From Yours Truly” and even the calm “Silver Screen” which was given a vast makeover, becoming a faster and more dramatic track, so danceable it was pointless to resist. They’ve got a few more UK dates, in Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Glasgow, so check them out if you can. Check out the video for their latest single and stream one of the aforementioned tracks below.
