MIND BLOWN: Friendly Fires – Strange Love (Depeche Mode Cover)
Depeche Mode are one of my favourite bands, ever. So, when I heard this rather good cover by the funked-out dance trio that is Friendly Fires, I was quite surprised at the modern twist put on the song. The beats are funkier, the singing higher and the song comes together as more of a floor-filler than the desolate sounding sheen of the original. Not that it’s a better song of course, but Friendly Fires have created something quite different, a beat-filled, synthed-out rendition you’d be a fool to miss.
