PAUS

I like Portugal for two reasons, one they managed to get 7-0 against North Korea, providing myself with an actually exciting football match. Secondly, Portugal is home to Paus, label mates to Buraka Som Sista. They are on Enchufada records, which I was also lucky enough to discover through listening to Paus.
Paus is made up of four guys from different bands, so its kind of a side project for them. Their label seems to describe them as; love, good vibes and good people. From what I can hear, they’ve hit the nail on the head.
They sound like a Holy Fuck, Health, Battles abomination, that sounds so so good. Being an instrumental band means you have to switch it up quite a bit, and keep the track interesting. Paus do this well and manage to make every section extremely catchy. I would single out one of their tracks on their debut EP “É Uma Água”, but each is so fucking amazing, its hard to pick. Each song has a drive keeping the song going at a fast pace, which is really powered by the drums. You could say that the drums are leading the rest of the band, which might be why they are so awesome.
Here is the video for “Mudo e Surdo”

You can catch the EP on iTunes and also buy it for £2.49
Props to Benny K, for the heads up on this sick sick sick band.
