This is madness, this is the mad shit.

MADVILLIAN are back after a pretty long anticipated return, with “Papermill”, which is oddly being given away on Adult Swim in association with Kia, the car brand? Madness.
At a glance the track is pretty much Madlib with DOOM spitting over it, with DOOM’s popularity and the countless different producers he’s collaborated with, it can seem a little like an accapella track and an instrumental being mixed. However, listening to it more though, I started realism why Madlib and DOOM’s collabs seem to work in the first place, both pretty experimental they both have the same feel as a lot of jazz artists, Miles Davis to Herbie Hancock, its this certain offbeat style that keeps things interesting. I guess you could say that Madvillain and a few other artists out there at the moment are like the modern jazz.
Stones Throw have confirmed the Madvillainy sequal, set to come out this year. Should be sick. While your at it, you should subscribe to Stones Throw’s podcast, it is insane.

Agenda No. 2
A pretty rad duo named Soul Junkies, hailing from Southampton, Soul Junkies are beat maker/producer, Shank Carvin and, MC, Blueprince. This is a blend of UK hip hop that your probably not familiar with, the countless grime tracks laced with autotune has arguably damaged the UK’s reputation for hip hop, but with the knowledge that Soul Junkies are out there, definitely gives me some hope. Shank Carvin’s beats have flow, and originality, with a sinister feel, and with Blueprinces cleverly detailed lyrics, a story is told in every track. Both keep up this head nodding rhythm that is almost hypnotic.
Tracks to take note of are “Twilight Chorus” which feature a host of sick MC’s, like a UK Wu-Tang, and “Sometimes” where a sample off a Cocorosie track is used to create a sombre track with echo’s of summer.
