SUTPHIN BOULEVARD

This new track from Dev Hynes’ latest project, Blood Orange, is currently arresting my attention in some kind of hypnotic grip. Following on from the previously unveiled “Dinner”, “Sutphin Boulevard” occupies some kind of hazy and seedy space, a lacing of sexuality that permeates through the track is hard to deny. It’s utterly addictive, a good feat seeing as it acts as a sampler for his newly announced upcoming album, Coastal Grooves, out August 8th, on Domino. By distancing himself from the twee melancholy of Lightspeed Champion (although admittedly of darker tone on 2010′s Life is Sweet! Nice To Meet You) and the hardcore hyperactivity of Test Icicles has only gone to do wonders for Hynes, I think (and hope) that he’s finally found the right groove. Check it out below.
